weekending (3)...

Once again we took advantage of the extra holiday today and the beautiful weather to venture to our local park.  We packed a picnic for morning tea and eagerly headed out the door.  How lovely it is to spend time together...

Until tomorrow...

weekending (2)...

Its a coolish morning and everyone is still snuggled under the blankets in bed.  I am getting on with some tasks before visiting friends for morning tea. Before we go we will bake some mini muffins to take and share.  The little people will want to help so these muffin trays are on hold until after breakfast.

To warm the house I cranked the oven and made Rhonda Hetzel's 'down to earth' cinnanmon tea cake recipe. We will be looking forward to this for afternoon tea with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Other quiet morning tasks included...
  • unpacking the 'fill a bag of books' for $10 from the local library book sale.  These will be passed around the family to share.
  • writing the new menu for the week.  I have used day to day cookery for some home goodness inspiration
  • making lists of other plans for the long weekend; baking, crafting, mending, gardening, reading, cleaning and organising

I hope you are having a happy long weekend with your family and friends.

explore...discover...investigate...gather...

Even though we go the park often, these two toddlers never seem to tire of wanting to visit the ducks, play outside and just be.  Last night I prepared as much as I could to make getting out the door as stress free as possible.  I ironed our clothes, charged cameras and gathered our belongings near the door.
Essential Items included: picnic blanket, water bottles, snack boxes, hats, sunscreen, tissues, bread to feed the ducks, nappy bag, wipes, extra clothes, new eco-notebooks, crayons, pencils, digital cameras.

I couldn’t resist purchasing these Eco-friendly notebooks from our local newsagent a few weeks ago.   Each came with a handy pencil case attached and pencils.

A park, some snacks and some time together....what else could be better?

Until tomorrow...

hello may...

I sense a slower pace this month.
I am grateful for the resilience my body has shown the past 8 months and look forward to beginning a new chapter as a family of 5!  I know the next few months will be challenging as we adjust to new rhythms and new routines, however, I must remind myself to take each day as it comes.  Call it ‘nesting’ if you will but in the meantime, we will continue preparing, sorting, collecting, organising and de-cluttering.  Some spaces in our home will be temporarily rearranged.  These adjustments will help our daily routine flow better and satisfy the needs of our two toddlers who become increasingly independent.  It’s also a reality that as the cool weather slows us down, some plans will stay as plans and that’s okay.

Until tomorrow...
