organic vine ripe tomatoes

 

This week seems to be a week about our garden.  I thought I would treat you to some more images of our small garden project.  A couple of months ago we bought three plastic garden containers from the Reject shop for $15 each.

Everyone enjoyed having their own small garden project.  We planted strawberries in the front and vine tomato seedlings behind. We had no idea that these tomato plants would love the soil mixture we used and the position of the containers. Our small scale garden project went from this....

...to this!

 

The plants grew so big they scaled the side of the house and grew right up to the roof.  The strawberries are in there somewhere.  We did use stakes initially support the plants but after a while the vine just took over.  There is a fair bit of investigating that goes on to uncover these little juicy red jewels.

A handful of these little gems every couple of days is an easy school lunch box treat.What have you been growing in your garden lately?

Currently in our garden we have an abundance of baby limes (dwarf limes).  I have juiced some and sliced some in half.  The one's cut in half have been sealed in a snap lock bags and popped in the freezer.

healthy start

As the winter season is upon us there is nothing more refreshing then freshly squeezed oranges.  Juicing seasonal fruit is a must in our house during these windy winter months.

hello friends

It has almost been a year since we lost our beautiful friend, Cobie.  It only seems like yesterday that she embraced my little ones tightly and blessed us with her beautiful smile.  For seven years our friendship blossomed and our lives became intertwined - she became an integral part of our family.  While this past year has been difficult beyond words, somehow the blurry momentum of life forces us into our daily routines.  While we have experienced many new firsts like our first soccer game and our first ballet eisteddfod, it's just not the same without her and everyone, particularly the littlest people who meant the most to her, feel it too.   Somehow, somehow we have to find the courage to keep going.

I have not forgotten you and your kind messages of friendship and support has been so encouraging and uplifting.  Thank you so much.
